Hiking

Walking in Sesto is pure pleasure: The bizarre and rugged and utterly fascinating Sesto Dolomites with the Three Peaks, Cima Nove, Cima Dieci, Cima Undici, Cima Dodici and the other peaks of the UNESCO World Heritage rise up before you. Skilled and experienced climbers enjoy unique high routes and the most beautiful via ferratas of the Alps.

A simpler hike at medium altitude also offers a unique nature experience, unforgettable mountains and fascinating views.

Park your car at the valley station of the Haunold chairlift or travel there by bus. Then you climb up along the forest road that becomes a sledging trail in winter. This is a relatively easy hike and can be completed in less than an hour.

At the top you are greeted by the welcome sight of the Riese Haunold Hütte mountain hut, which has a large playground and is especially child-friendly. You can also enjoy the view from here of the Haunold, San Candido's local mountain. But the main highlight comes at the end: families with children can go back down to the valley via the Funbob mountain coaster! Fun for all the family is guaranteed.

Coming from Villabassa turn left at the traffic light and go in the direction of the church. From there straight to San Silvestro and then to Gandelle.
